One year has passed since our world premiere at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. Meanwhile, ALA KACHUU – Take and Run has screened at nearly 60 international festivals and won over 30 awards. And now we are even entering the race for an Oscar nomination (see below). We are overwhelmed and proud. Let us give you a short review of our first screening year and where we are heading.<\/p>\n

We couldn’t have gotten off to a better start. The 38th Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival awarded us the Marlyn Mason Award for “new voices, new perspectives by women in film.” And that was to be continued. From Sidney to Los Angeles, around the globe, Sezim’s story touched juries and audiences. Best Short Film, Best Direction, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Woman Filmmaker, Best Performance, Audience Choice Award… We are overwhelmed and blessed with more awards almost by the week. Awarded at renowned and Oscar\u00ae qualifying festivals<\/strong><\/h6>\n

We have been exceptionally pleased to participate in prestigious and internationally recognized festivals, such as Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, HollyShorts Film Festival (Los Angeles), Cleveland International Film Festival, BronzeLens Film Festival (Atlanta) or Durban International Film Festival.<\/p>\n

The response is overwhelming<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Most of the festivals were held online due to Covid19. However, the Five Lakes Festival in Germany physically took place in August 2021, and our director Maria was there: “I could finally feel how the audience reacted to the film. How moved and shocked they were. They felt the same way I did when I first heard about bride kidnapping. I receive an incredible amount of messages from all over the world in which people tell me how moved they are by the film. I am always very touched. This increasing awareness has already helped us collect many donations that benefit women in Kyrgyzstan.”<\/p>\n

Our goal was to draw attention to bride kidnapping, and we are succeeding. We want to take advantage of this opportunity, especially at a time when women’s rights are drastically threatened by the pandemic and the tragic situation in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

ALA KACHUU goes Oscars\u00ae\u00a0<\/strong><\/h6>\n

We are thrilled that through our success, we have qualified for the Oscar race. We have taken the first step towards an Oscar nomination. But the journey has only just begun. The next step is to increase our reach and invest in a professional advertising campaign, ranging between 10’000 and 50’000 Swiss Francs (depending on nomination).<\/p>\n

This is a ‘once-in-a-lifetime-chance’.
\nUnd genau hierf\u00fcr brauchen wir wiederum DICH!<\/strong><\/p>\n

WIR STARTEN INS OSCAR-RENNEN<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ein Jahr ist seit unserer Weltpremiere am Rhode Island International Film Festival vergangen. Inzwischen lief ALA KACHUU \u2013 Take and Run an knapp 60 internationalen Festivals und wurde \u00fcber 30-mal ausgezeichnet. Und nun starten wir ins Rennen um eine Oscar\u00ae-Nomination (s. unten). Wir sind \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigt und stolz. Wir wollen euch hier einen kleinen R\u00fcckblick geben \u00fcber unser erstes Screening-Jahr, und dar\u00fcber, was wir noch vorhaben.<\/p>\n

Der Start konnte uns nicht besser gelingen. Das 38th Flickers\u2019 Rhode Island International Film Festival pr\u00e4mierte uns mit dem Marlyn Mason Award f\u00fcr \u201enew voices, new perspectives by women in film\u201c. Und so ging es weiter. Von Sidney bis Los Angeles, rund um den Globus ber\u00fchrt Sezims Geschichte die Jurys und das Publikum. Ausgezeichnet an namhaften und Oscar\u00ae qualifizierenden Festivals<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Besonders gefreut hat uns die Teilnahme an renommierten und international anerkannten Festivals, wie das Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, HollyShorts Film Festival (Los Angeles), Cleveland International Film Festival, BronzeLens Film Festival (Atlanta) oder Durban International Film Festival.<\/p>\n

Die Resonanz ist \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigend<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Die meisten Festivals wurden coronabedingt online durchgef\u00fchrt. Das F\u00fcnf Seen Festival in Deutschland hingegen fand im August 2021 physisch statt und unsere Regisseurin Maria war dabei: \u201eIch konnte endlich mal live sp\u00fcren, wie das Publikum auf den Film reagiert. Wie bewegt und schockiert sie sind. Ihnen geht es wie mir, als ich das erste Mal vom Brautraub erfahren habe. Ich erhalte unheimlich viele Nachrichten aus der ganzen Welt, in denen mir die Leute berichten, wie ergriffen sie von dem Film sind. Ich bin immer wieder sehr ber\u00fchrt. Dar\u00fcber hinaus hat uns die steigende Bekanntheit geholfen, bereits viele Spenden zu sammeln, die Frauen in Kirgistan zugutekommen.\u201c<\/p>\n

Unser Ziel, auf den Brautraub aufmerksam zu machen, scheint zu gelingen und wir m\u00f6chten diese Chance weiter nutzen. Gerade in einer Zeit, in der durch die Pandemie und die tragische Lage in Afghanistan die Rechte der Frauen drastisch gef\u00e4hrdet sind.<\/p>\n

ALA KACHUU goes Oscars <\/strong><\/h6>\n

Wir sind begeistert, dass wir uns durch unseren Erfolg f\u00fcr das Oscar\u00ae-Rennen qualifiziert haben und damit einen ersten Schritt in Richtung Oscar\u00ae Nomination gemacht haben. Aber damit beginnt die Reise erst.<\/p>\n

Im n\u00e4chsten Schritt m\u00fcssen wir unsere Reichweite vergr\u00f6ssern und in eine professionelle Werbe-Kampagne investieren.
\nUnd daf\u00fcr brauchen wir wiederum EUCH!<\/strong><\/p>\n
